Troubleshooting Power Electronics – Modulation vs Carrier Waveform

Categories: Video Library

Troubleshooting power electronics can be tricky. In this tutorial video we cover common problems with power electronic circuits that can be understood from looking at the modulation vs the carrier waveform. The modulation waveform is the output from the control circuit that when compared with the carrier waveform dictates the duty cycle to be applied to the switching circuit.

We look to see what happens if the amplitude of this signal is outside the range of the carrier and what happens if the control signal is “too fast” for the carrier waveform.
