A novel adaptive algorithm is presented for the rotor-flux and slip estimation of sensorless field-oriented induction machine drives. A Model Reference Adaptive System (MRAS) based scheme is employed to achieve parameter adaption and accurate estimation. The reference model of MRAS is designed to be insensitive to machine parameters. By utilizing the proposed scheme, the effect of the critical parameter variation on estimation in FOC can be removed. The validity of the adaptive observer has been verified by the initial research results.
